QHSE Support Officer
HiDef Aerial Surveying Limited (HiDef) is known for its market leading innovative digital aerial surveys which have been deployed in ten countries. We work on a range of projects from our digital aerial surveys, ornithological and marine mammal statistical analysis and research and development projects in fields such as machine learning and artificial intelligence, often with our parent companies BioConsult SH in Germany, Biotope in France, other partners and domain experts.

Quality lies at the heart of HiDef’s services, and following a growth in business the company is looking to recruit a QHSE Support Officer to join our busy and dedicated Operations team. This is a crucial role within our organisation and this position offers significant opportunities for the right person who will be positive and self-driven, methodical, diligent and creative, with a keen eye for detail.
Location: this role is based at HiDef’s Head Office in Lillyhall, Cumbria, however it will require ad-hoc travel between Cumbria and Edinburgh, to ensure the QHSE functions are supported in both office locations - as such, a full and clean UK driving licence would be an advantage.
The Role:
This role of the QHSE Support Officer is to develop, improve and maintain a safe compliant and efficient workplace by ensuring the company’s quality, health and safety, and environmental management standards are met.
The role includes but is not limited to:
- Acting as a first point of contact for all QHSE and facilities related queries;
- Assisting with the development and implementation of all systems, policies, and procedures associated with QHSE;
- Conducting health and safety audits, producing feedback for improvement;
- Supporting all departments to risk assess activities and identify improvements;
- Ensuring all compliance and accreditation needs are achieved;
- Assisting with the continuous improvement of the QHSE function;
- Liaising with the Landlords to manage the timely completion of all building repairs and maintenance;
- Managing and tracking the companies Carbon emission output and creating objectives for improvement;
- Supporting the company’s quality management system;
- Assisting with investigations in relation to accidents, incidents and near miss reports;
- Liaising with external suppliers and sub-contractors to ensure correct documentation is received;
- Supporting departments within HiDef by providing relevant QHSE documentation;
- Performing non-conformance reporting, tracking issues, and implementing preventive measures and continuous improvement;
- Acting as “Head Fire Marshall” during fire tests and live situations;
- Supporting with the delivery of QHSE related training where necessary;
- Coordinating the activities of internal assessors;
- Providing general administration support; and
- Any other responsibilities as the Company may see fit.
The successful candidate will need:
Qualifications
- 5 x GCSE's, including maths and English, at grades 9-4;
- IOSH Working Safely
- A degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related fields (desirable)
- IOSH Managing Safely (desirable); and
- NEBOSH certification (desirable)
Skills & Knowledge
- Understanding of ISO, regulations and other relevant compliance standards;
- Highly organised with the ability to plan and use resources to meet deadlines on multiple projects;
- Ability to use own initiative and make appropriate decisions;
- Excellent communication skills, ensuring clear and concise information is delivered and understood; and
- Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships across the business and externally.
Experience
- Some experience in a QHSE role or similar would be advantageous.
Benefits / Remuneration:
- Salary, starting from circa £32,000 p.a.

- Working hours are based on Monday-Friday 08:30-17:00.
